The impact and opportunities of Circular Economy

Workshop ABN AMRO

Do you want to learn more about Circular Economy and get inspired for Procurement that integrates Circular Economy Principles? Then join this workshop! During the workshop you will experience the opportunities and challenges of Circular Economy and Procurement. Through questions, cases and interactions we share views and thoughts on this matter. We also tour you around the ABN AMRO building to show you examples of circularity and our Paviljoen (ABN AMRO Pavillion), which will be built with circular materials and building methods.

ABN AMRO has started a journey to gain experience and to develop more expertise on the circular economy. The essence of integrating circular economy with procurement is that the buyer gathers knowledge about the value chain of the producer. The producer focuses on closing material loops… There are several business models for circular economy. For example, procurement can focus on the desired performance (e.g. light) instead of buying a product (e.g. the lamp itself). You might own a mobile phone while you only want to use the service of calling and texting… Join this workshop and get inspired and shaken up!

Second announcement workshop YPP conference 2016

logo-quintlogo-achmea

Leading IT consultancy firm Quint Wellington Redwood joined forces with Achmea and will provide one of the workshops during this years YPP conference on October 28 at ABN AMRO in Amsterdam!

Purpose driven sourcing
Organizations try to automate or even robotize all the work they can, even if it is core to their business. The remaining non-core work is often outsourced. All the other work is left behind for the remaining employees, putting them at the lowest picking order. In the last few decades, this has put a lot of people in uncertainty about their lives. No wonder in the world only 17 percent of the workforce is truly engaged at work, while companies with engaged people outperform other companies tenfold.
What would happen if we would turn around the picking order, and automate and outsource only that work that people don’t find purposeful or are not passionate about?
During this break out session, we want to explore this radically new approach to sourcing with you. The ultimate goal is to find a sourcing approach that has a positive impact on people and profit.

More with less: how a sharing economy offers opportunities for organizations

Expensive equipment that is not being used, rooms are empty and knowledge is not always maximized. The solution? Share! Where consumers are increasingly sharing their homes, cars and food, the sharing economy also creates opportunities for organizations. What’s not being used, costs money. Rijnstate Hospital, leader in this field, therefore offers its (temporarily unused) capacity for rent or for sale to other organizations on a sharing marketplace. The Albert Schweitzer Hospital took another approach and has started using its own internal capacity in a more optimal way by setting up its own private marketplace which links the various departments and branches within the company. Do you want to learn more about the context and what the experiences, opportunities, obstacles and best practices are in order for you to start this within your own organisation? This and more is covered in one of the workshop during our YPP conference on the 28th of October at the headquarters of ABN AMRO in Amsterdam.

The workshop “More with less: how a sharing economy offers opportunities for organizations” will be hosted by Lieke van Kerkhoven of Floow2 and Royan van Velse of Rijnstate Hospital.

Lieke van Kerkhoven

foto-lieke-van-kerkhoven

Lieke has a background in healthcare. After studying medicine she fulfilled several managerial and organizational positions in healthcare organizations in The Netherlands and abroad. She experienced first-hand how much organizations can benefit from sharing their assets amongst each other, in the first place financially, but certainly also socially and environmentally. From her passion to contribute to a healthier healthcare, she initiated FLOOW2 Healthcare about 3 years ago. This is the first sharing marketplace for healthcare organizations to rent out or sell their equipment, services, facilities, knowledge and skills.

Sustainability as the theme for this years conference!

Sustainability?! – Your People, Planet, Profit

To sustain or not to sustain, that’s the question. It won’t be long before the world’s population reaches nine billion people. In addition ecological and environmental awareness keeps on growing. Countries worldwide have determined several goals to strive towards a more environmentally sustainable way of living.

Do organizations share this environmental friendly mindset and are they aware of their impact on our environment? Is sustainability a hype or an everlasting and significant subject? What does sustainability mean exactly and what is the impact on corporate structures?

In our case the question of importance is which impact sustainability has on the procurement strategy. Does procurement face new challenges that make our work more complex than ever, or does sustainability create opportunities focusing on more than savings?

This year’s YPP Conference focuses on these matters to give you the specifics about sustainability and procurement.

Please find more information on our event page, where you can also register for the event.

We are looking forward to welcome you at our conference!
