On May 7th BOOZZT hosted the YPP Event ‘Business Model YOU’.  Young Procurement Professionals from very different organisations jointly reflected on their development goals and designed their personal business plans. Ideas were shared, original questions were asked and by the end of the session participants stated they were highly inspired! We thank all YPP’ers for their active participation. Now, keep up the good work! Elaborate your BMY even further – it would be an honour to hear about the progress you’ve made!

Na drie mooie jaren bij de YPP gaat Elske Kleijn ons bestuur verlaten. Dit betekent dat we momenteel op zoek zijn naar een nieuw, enthousiast bestuurslid om ons team te komen per vanaf eind Q2/ begin Q3 dit jaar te komen versterken. We zoeken deze keer een vrouw om gelijk verdeeld te blijven qua team.

Om een beetje een beeld te geven wat wij doen:

• één keer per maand vergaderen we over de huidige stand van zaken (events, planning, leden, promotie, financiën, etc.)
• we streven er naar om 6 tot 8 events per jaar te verzorgen (waaronder het jaarlijkse YPP Conference), waarbij de verschillende events roulerend door de bestuursleden worden begeleid.
• Als bestuur zijn we continu op zoek naar manieren om ons vakgebied met onze leden naar een hoger niveau te tillen.
• naast de gezamenlijk uren ben je nog bezig met je eigen event, gesprekken voor je rol met o.a. geïnteresseerde partijen en de Nevi, promotie, de website, etc.
• gemiddeld per maand dien je rekening te houden met 10 uur YPP per maand, wat rond sommige events zeker kan oplopen.

Waar wij naar zoeken? – Zoals aangegeven, ten eerste een enthousiast persoon, die daarnaast in ieder geval affiniteit heeft met Inkoop en/of Supply Chain Management, tijd heeft voor toch best wat uurtjes YPP per maand, en op een goed niveau de Engelse taal beheerst.

After three beautiful years in the YPP Elske Kleijn will be leaving our board. This means, at the moment we are looking for a new enthusiastic board member to join our team as of the end of Q2/ start of Q3 this year. To keep some balance in the board formation this time we are looking for a female candidate.

To give you a general impression of what you can expect as a board member:

• once a month we arrange a meeting to discuss the actual status (events, planning, members, promotion, financial status, etc.)
• we aim to organize 6 to 8 events per year (including our annual YPP Conference); hereby every board member leads one or two events.
• as board we continuously seek ways to get our area of professionto to a higher level, together with our members.
• next to the hours together you’ll be busy planning and guiding your event, have meetings in your role with i.e. interested parties and Nevi, promotion, the website, etc.
• on average this board function will take up 10 hours a month, surely increasing around some events.

What we are looking for? – Like indicated, in the first place an enthousiastic person, who next to that at least has an affinity with Procurement and/or Supply Chain Management, has some spare hours a month to spend with YPP, and has a good command of the English language.

 On Friday, February 13^th, approximately 20 YPP members got a sneak preview of what happens behind the scenes at Schiphol’s world class luggage handling system. To begin with all participants were given a presentation about the intense sourcing process that had taken place over the years and the challenges that the project team had been faced with. The purpose of framework agreements, close alliances with numerous stakeholders and suppliers as well as the necessity of exceptional contract management were just few of the success criteria that were stressed. The 13 year investment process certainly was one that many of us can learn from.

Following the presentation we continued with a guided tour under the Schiphol grounds. The level of complexity was incredible and it was as if we entered a theme park. The number of conveyer belts, trolley’s, stairs and pipes seemed endless. I believe the majority of us could not have imagined that this was what happened to our luggage upon departure, arrival and transit.

Finishing off there was room for drinks where everyone had time to share their enthusiasm but also to get to know each other. All together the day and experience were both incredible. I am sure that I speak on behalf of everyone, who was present that day, when I say that I am grateful to the YPP board for making this experience possible. I hope there will be many more events that are as inspiring as the Schiphol tour.
